Brushed or Brushless motors. Select the correct motor category for your ESC. Most modern ESC's cater for Brushless motors. All brushless motors have 3 wire terminals. Brushless motors are very low maintenance, efficient and fast. Brushed motors are robust and more suited to rock crawling, more resistant to damp and wet conditions. Lower wound motors are the faster but will drain more battery capacity. Make sure that your ESC can handle the lower wound motor if you choose to go this route.
